The guiding research questions for the Speedometer include:
- How long does it take to introduce and scale-up health interventions in low- and middle-income countries?
- What makes the process of launch and scale go faster or slower?
- What are the most important factors for launch and scale at the global and country level?
By collecting quantitative and qualitative data on a wide range of interventions, the Speedometer Initiative will identify milestones and key variables that could accelerate or impede scale-up, providing a more uniform, consistent set of metrics that show success across categories.
Through the process, the Speedometer will create a more consistent data framework that will inform future data collection efforts.
More information on the Speedometer database will be provided when it launches in 2020.
